Technical SEO before launch: a practical checklist
Technical SEO checks that search engines and visitors receive one clear version of a website.
URLs and indexing
Choose one primary domain and protocol. Other variants should permanently redirect to it while preserving the path.
Robots.txt and the sitemap should contain only current rules and canonical URLs. Every indexable page needs a clear title, description, and one H1.
Language versions and media
Language versions need their own content and correct reciprocal links only between pages that exist.
Media should reserve dimensions so the page does not jump while loading. Off-screen videos and images can load later, but do not delay the main visual without testing it.
Performance and verification
Remove debug data sent publicly when it is needed only for development. Review large scripts, render-blocking resources, fonts, and heavy media.
After publication, verify response codes, the sitemap, forms, analytics events, and real mobile journeys. The checklist cannot guarantee rankings: competition, demand, and ongoing content work still matter.
